Partnership with the Scottish Seabird Centre

We are delighted to announce that we’ve teamed up with the Scottish Seabird Centre to bring you our new wellbeing in nature course.

The course will be led by conservation officers of the Scottish Seabird Centre and aimed to help you improve your wellbeing.

The course sessions include various nature activities, such as: bird identification, rockpooling, wellbeing wanders and learning more about the marine life in East Lothian.

Bird Identification

Do you know that you can observe over 300 bird species in East Lothian? From spotting swans and common gulls to rare Western Sandpipers, birdwatching is a fun and engaging activity which allows for introspection and contemplation.

Join the Scottish Seabird Centre conservation officers for a relaxing wildlife session along the coast to find out more about the seabirds and shorebirds. Learn more about identifying birds, starting with the basics and moving on to some of the most iconic species that can be found along the East Lothian coastline. Everyone is welcome to join the conversation, ask questions, share their knowledge and stories, or simply unwind and enjoy the wildlife.

Rockpooling

Rockpooling is a classic beach pastime, where you can discover the mysterious home of the sea’s wonderful inhabitants. On this course you can take advantage of the East Lothian coastline and observe hidden landscapes with little undersea caves, dunes, and plains that are just as diverse and lovely as those we see on land. When the tide is low, we get a glimpse of this mysterious world and the interesting creatures that live there.

Wellbeing Wanders

The wellbeing wanders is an opportunity to connect to nature and enjoy the beautiful East Lothian coastline in a friendly group. These sessions can sooth your mind.

Being immersed in a natural environment is a form of ecotherapy that can benefit your health and overall wellbeing. Rediscover your enthusiasm for nature and learn to feel more relaxed and connected.

Learning about the Marine Life

Marine life, also known as sea life, is made up of the plants, animals and other organisms that live in the salty water of the sea.

By learning from the Scottish Seabird Centre’s vast knowledge, you can better understand the creatures we share the planet with and feel more enthusiastic. Importantly, learning new things can have a positive effect on your mental health.
